Why ELA Basel?
ELA Basel is an independent, not-for-profit organisation located in Basel, Switzerland. We are committed to providing high quality childcare and education appropriate for young children from the age of 3 months to the end of Primary School at 12 years old.
We have 30 years of experience teaching young children. Our staff are:
- highly qualified,
- native English speakers and
- highly experienced in teaching children who speak multiple languages, come from several different backgrounds and have individual learning styles.

Meet the Teacher
My name is Sam and I am a primary teacher at ELA Basel. Originally from the UK, I have lived in Switzerland since 2018. I qualified as a primary school teacher in 2013 at a British university and also hold a bachelor's degree in Geography.
For the past seven years, I have been a class teacher across both the primary and secondary years at ELA Basel. I am passionate about fostering a love of learning in all students through engaging and exciting teaching. With a strong focus on developing language skills, I believe that dynamic and immersive lessons are key to inspiring curiosity, creativity and confidence in young learners as they explore the English language.
The English class at a glance.
Our English class is designed for children attending Swiss schools with English-speaking parents or an English-speaking parent. Additionally, children who have previously attended an English-speaking school are eligible. The class caters to children between the ages of 5 and 9.
There is a maximum of 15 spaces available, reserve your space now!!
