Afterschool & Enrichment

Our Afterschool & Enrichment programmes are open to internal ELA Basel families and external families!

Enrichment and afterschool activities are programmes offered to students outside of regular school hours, each with distinct purposes:

1. Afterschool Programme:

At ELA Basel, After School provision is in two parts. The first session (15:30-16:30) is designed to keep students engaged and supervised once the regular school day ends, typically until parents or guardians finish work. Afterschool programmes may include elements of social interaction and free play.

The second session (16:30-18:00) has a more structured element where children get to choose from one of three activities to keep them engaged, foster teamwork or their love of reading. These activities usually include a sports element, a reading element and a structured play session.

2. Enrichment Programme:

At ELA Basel, Enrichment Programme activities start at 15:30 and usually finish at 16:30. However, some clubs run longer depending on the activity that is offered. The reasons for offering Enrichment activities are as follows:

  • structured activities designed to broaden students' knowledge and skills beyond the standard curriculum. Enrichment activities might include things like art, music, coding, language lessons, and science clubs.
  • Enrichment helps students explore their interests, discover new talents, and deepen their understanding of specific subjects in fun and engaging ways.

Although Enrichment Programme activities change every semester, all children can expect some sports, crafts, STEM and music-related activities as part of the offer.
