Accreditation and Affiliations

In January 2022 ELA Basel was awarded Patron's Accreditation by the Governing Body of COBIS, the Council of British International Schools with a total of ten commendations across 9 different standards. We are the only international school in North-West Switzerland to hold this prestigious award.

Patron's Accreditation, as a benchmark of excellence in international education, is a rigorous process of school inspection completed by a team of experienced school leaders from other international schools. COBIS accreditation takes place on a continuous five year cycle with the next inspection visit taking place in 2026.

ELA Basel is an member of SGIS, the Swiss Group of International Schools. Each year a delegation of teaching staff attend the SGIS Conference which is a valuable opportunity for Continuous Professional Development.

ELA Basel is licensed to operate as a childcare centre and school by the Canton Basel-Stadt Education Department.

We hold the prestigious Basel-Stadt Secondary School Transition Agreement, which provides our Year 7 pupils the ability to transfer into the Basel-Stadt secondary school system without having to take any formal entrance examinations.
